Our GP/Doctor Consultation initiative aims to provide access to healthcare for those less fortunate who cannot afford treatment when they become ill.
Since November 2021, we have been running a project in Mutare, Zimbabwe. Eligible patients, identified through the social welfare department, churches, and media, are referred to our preferred GPs/doctors for treatment. Kubatana Together As One covers the consultation fees, medications, and any further tests requested by the doctors.
Depending on available funding, doctors see between 40 and 70 patients each month. The demand for this service is immense, and additional funding would allow us to reach even more needy people. Our initiative is currently funded by ordinary citizens who share our vision.
On average, it costs about £30 for a patient to see a doctor and receive prescribed medication. If further tests and examinations are needed, costs can rise significantly, sometimes reaching thousands of dollars.
